Parma Area Morning Kiwanis prepared breakfast for our Sponsored Kiwanis K-Kids Chapter

at Green Valley Elementary School. President Erin McDonough ran the meeting with the

help of K-Kids Advisors Pam Knerem, Mrs Theresa  Fowler, Ms Kathy Conners. Their

meetings are the first Wednesday of every month. The next meeting is 12/3 at 8:30am

 

  

   

   

  

The Green Valley K-kids came up with the idea to have an end of the year picnic. 

The Sponsoring PAM Kiwanis embraced the idea, invited the Builder Club of Hillside

Junior High and the Normandy Key Club to help.  It turned out to be a very successful

day thanks to planner PAM K President Elect Pam Edmonds, chef Dr Bob Gullick

and the many Kiwanis members and parents that pitched in to help. 

The rain even cooperated and held off until everyone was served!

 

  

     

 

  

 

   

  

 

I just wanted to let you know what the K Kids at Green Valley have been up to!

 

Pam Edmonds visited us a few weeks ago, and got to see one of our meetings in action. Thank you, Pam!

 

We are currently in the process of electing our officers for next year. This Friday the candidates will be giving their "campaign" speeches during our morning meeting. You are all welcome to come see the kids in action! Our last two morning meetings of the year are this Friday, May 2 and Friday, May 16 at 8:30. The kids voted to have a final lunch meeting on June 3 from 12:15-1:15 which will be a picnic. We would love our Kiwanis to join us!

 

The week of April 14th, the K Kids had a Webkinz raffle to raise money for the Parma Animal Shelter. I don't have the exact total in front of me, but I believe over $350.00 was raised. This month the kids also helped put together Earth Day bracelet kits for the school, and distributed fliers to get kids to participate in the St. Jude's Math-a-thon which will be May's service project.

 

In June we will be selling popsicles and host a "drench a teacher" to raise money for Relay for Life that we will present to our Kiwanis team! Would the team captain contact me so that I can get the money to them?

 

Also, through our annual K Kids fund raiser, we have raised enough money to purchase a DJ/sound system for the school for use during assemblies, special events and etc. If anyone can stear me in the right direction as to what would be a good place to get the equipment from, I would greatly appreciate it! I would like to get it purchased as soon as possible!

The students wrote letters to the soldiers in Afghanistan during their November meeting. The letters are in the mail. Great job, KKids.
